蔡徐坤就「强制堕胎」事件作出回应，通过新加坡知名媒体 The Strait Times《海峡时报》刊登的这篇英文报道，我们来学六个表达。
1️⃣wrongdoing &sex scandal
这个名词既可以指违背法律的 illegal behavior「不法行为，坏事」，也可泛指 immortal behavior「不道德行为」。scandal 是「丑闻」，sex scandal 是「性丑闻」。
2️⃣be embroiled in sth
表示「陷入困境」，我们前不久刚学了 be in hot water，今天学个正式的。embroil 表示 「使卷入，使陷入」纠纷、困境中，通常用于被动。
She had no desire to embroil herself in lengthy lawsuits with the tabloid newspapers.
她不想卷入和那些小报的漫长的官司纠纷中。
3️⃣a one-night stand
原本指的是在特定地点「只表演一次的演出」，在 1950 年代，词义引申为「一夜情」。传唱度很高的 Free Loop 有句歌词包含该表达，中文翻译含蓄很多。
4️⃣ coerce sb into doing sthcoerce
跟 force 相似，表示「强迫」，但用法却不同。前者常和 into 连用，后者除了跟 into 合作，也会变成 force sb to do sth。另，pressure 除了表示「压力」，也可作动词表示「强迫」，我们在之前的精读中有讲。
Clark had somehow been able to coerce Jenny into doing whatever he told her to do.
不知是用什么办法，克拉克总能让珍妮对他言听计从。
5️⃣implore
是不是跟 explore 很像？但意思差别很大，implore 表示「恳求」，类似 beg, beseech。如想表示「恳求某人做某事」，需变成 implore sb to do sth。
She implored her parents not to send her away to school.
她哀求父母不要送她上学。
