By the same token, pressure to acknowledge climate-changing sins of the past—and demands for better policies now—are becoming harder to resist.

译文：同样地，不管是承认往日气候变化之罪所带来的压力，还是今日需制定更优政策的要求，都变得越来越难以抗拒。

by the same token

这是一个固定短语，表示「由于同样的原因；同样地」，作用是进一步说明后面提到的事情与前面的事情不同，相当于 for the same reason。有时，我们可以根据语境译为「相反」。看上去平平无奇，但很适合在写作中用来对比。比如下面这句是把失败和成功的结果进行对比。

The penalty for failure will be high. But, by the same token, the rewards for success will be great.

失败就要付出沉重的代价。同理，成功会获得很大的回报。

社会的发展离不开人与人之间的互帮互助。我们以此为主题造个句。

If people are disposed to help each other, a strong sense of community will be created. By the same token, if they are reluctant to lend a hand, people won’t stick together.

factor in sth

译文：这将足以支持每年约 1000 万辆纯电汽车的产量——超过目前美国每年汽车购买量的一半。这个数字非常惊人，尤其是考虑到进口汽车量也包含在内。

factor in sth

熟词生义

factor 作名词表示「因素」，人尽皆知。但它还可以用作动词，表示 to include a particular fact or situation when you are thinking about or planning sth，意思是「把……因素考虑在内，将……计入」。所以，有些时候它可以替换常用的 consider。

Remember to factor in staffing costs when you are planning the project.

规划该项目时，记住要把雇人费用这个因素考虑进去。

2021.12英语六级完形中也曾用过这个短语。其中，concede 是「承认」，和 admit 相近，对应名词是 concession，都属于六级词汇。

The researchers conceded that the link found in the new study was not as strong when they factored in the effects of certain health behaviors, including exercise levels, sleep habits and diet.

研究人员承认，当把锻炼水平、睡眠习惯和饮食等健康行为产生的影响考虑进去之后，这样新的研究发现乐观和长寿之间的关联并没有那么大。

Yet for recorded music at large, the coming of the bots brings to mind a seismic event in its history: the rapid rise and fall of Napster, a platform for sharing mainly pirated songs at the turn of the millennium.

译文：但对于整个录制音乐行业而言，这些机器人的出现让人联想到行业历史上的一个重大事件：Napster 的迅速崛起与衰落。

at large

《新概念》3 Lesson 1 的标题叫做 A Puma at Large。通过那篇文章，我第一次认识 at large，不知道你是不是跟我一样？短语意思是危险的人或动物等「在逃的，逍遥法外的」。我们来一起读下原文。

The hunt went on for several weeks, but the puma was not caught. It is disturbing to think that a dangerous wild animal is still at large in the quiet countryside.

搜寻工作进行了几个星期，但始终未能逮住那只美洲狮。想到宁静的乡村中还有一头危险的野兽继续逍遥流窜，真令人担心。

而这个词组还有另一条释义，意思是「整个，全部」，相当于 as a who le 和 in general。比如，the population at large 是指「全部人口，全人类」，the society at large 是指「全社会」。

His statements do not reflect the beliefs of the public at large.

他的话并未反映普通民众的意见。
