近日,斯坦福大学教授Eric Pop晒出了一份特殊的简历,一份被拒的经历。

他的被拒经历,大致如下:
1996: rejected from MIT’s 6-A internship due to imperfect GPA(因为GPA不够理想,被MIT的6-A实习项目拒绝)
1996: accepted for 6-A internship, then rejected when company learned I wasn’t a US citizen yet(虽然被录取,又因为当时还不是美国公民被公司拒绝)
2003: rejected EDL paper (first EDL submission)(第一次投稿EDL,被拒)
2004: rejected from Truman postdoc fellowship at Sandia (申请桑迪亚国家实验室的Truman博士后奖学金,被拒)
2005: rejected Science paper (did fine at PRL)(论文被Science拒绝,后来在Physical Review Letters发表)
2005: interviewed, then rejected from UCLA faculty job
2005: rejected by UCSD, UC Davis, UC Berkeley, Caltech faculty jobs(面试了UCLA的教职,没拿到;申请UCSD、加州大学戴维斯分校、伯克利和加州理工的教职,也全部被拒)

Eric Pop说,这份清单还没有算上2007年至2025年间被拒的150多份项目申请,也没有算那些难以统计的拒稿,以及被他努力忘掉的其他失败。
他最后总结了几点:
第一,记性不要太好,脸皮要足够厚。
第二,博士毕业以后,被拒只会越来越多,尤其是当你成为PI以后。
第三,有些拒绝可以帮助自己改进,也可以成为继续尝试的动力。
第四,有些东西,第二次、第三次申请,真的可能拿到。
第五,拥有愿意鼓励你的学生和合作者,非常重要。
