前不久天才导演诺兰执导的影片《奥本海默》在全球上映，众多外媒给予了极高评价，目前豆瓣评分已升至 8.9，我们来看 Time《时代周刊》的文章。
1️⃣espouse
spouse 是「配偶」，但 espouse 却是动词，表示「支持，拥护」某种观点、理论、事业等。比如，espouse the scientific cause 是指「支持科学事业」。所以，espouser 是指「拥护者」。来看《经济学人》的一个句子。

2️⃣staunchly
形容词是 staunch，表示「忠实的；坚定的」，相当于 steadfast, faithful 等。比如，a staunch supporter 是指「坚定的拥护者」。这个形容词在外刊中很常见。在玛氏那篇长文中，《经济学人》提到的a staunchly independent streak 意思是「坚定的独立性」。

这让玛氏可以把剩下的利润重新投入到业务当中，令其保有强劲的资产负债表和坚定的独立性。
3️⃣waver
wave 是「海浪」，但 waver 却是「踌躇；犹豫不决」，相当于动词 hesitate，也是外刊常用动词。

人的思想可能动摇，但现实是永远可靠的。
