The diagram below shows the life cycle of a frog.

The flow chart outlines the sequential progression of a frog’s life.

概述段

Overall, the cyclical process comprises ten successive stages, commencing withegg-layingand culminating inthe full maturity of frogs.

Body paragraph 1

The initial stage is characterized bythe production of gelatinous eggs, known as frogspawn, each containing an embryo inside.Subsequently, these eggs hatch into tadpoles which remain attached to aquatic plants.Gradually, the tadpoles develop external gills, enabling them to respire underwater. As they continue to grow, their tails gradually elongate to develop swimming ability, untilhindlegs finally emerge.

- gelatinous：(adj.)

- frogspawn：(n.)

- embryo：(n.)

- tadpole：(n.)

- gill：(n.)鳃

- respire：(v.)

- tail：(n.)

- elongate：(v.)

- hindleg：(n.)后肢

Body paragraph 2

Afterwards, the tadpole undergoes a series of profound morphological changes. The forelimbs develop continuouslybeforefully breaks the skin, while the tail gradually shrinks as its stored energy is absorbed by the developing frog.Oncethe tail has almost completely disappeared and all four limbs are fully developed, the tadpole transitions into a baby frog.Further growth and maturation eventually result ina fully developed adult capable of reproduction, thereby completing the life cycle.

- morphological：(adj.)形态的

- forelimb：(n.)前肢
