本周我们学习和驾驶相关的词汇
1. gear /gɪə/
n.（汽车或自行车的）变速器，挡
搭配：change/ shift gears 换挡
automatic / manual gear 自动/手动档
e.g. He shifted gears to accelerate and overtake the truck.
e.g. Cars with automatic gears are generally easier to drive for beginners.
引申含义：
shift gears 改变做事方式或重心
E.g. After work, I need some time to shift gears and relax.
get into gear进入状态
It takes me a while to get into gear in the morning.
2. overtake/əʊvə'teɪk/
v. 超[车]; 追上前面的人
e.g.It's dangerous to overtake other vehicles on a narrow road.
e.g. Never overtake a vehicle when you can't see clearly what's coming from the opposite direction.
补充：cut in 加塞[负面]
e.g. I really dislike drivers who cut in without warning, especially in heavy traffic.
e.g. Some impatient drivers tend to cut in when traffic is heavy.
3. merge/ˈmɚʤ/
v.与…合并；并入[中性，不含贬义]
搭配：merge into traffic 并入车流
merge into another lane 并入另一条车道
e.g.You should check your mirrors before merging into traffic.
e.g. I slowed down to let the car merge into my lane.
4. accelerate /ək'seləreɪt/
v. 加速;提速
e.g.The driver accelerated to overtake the truck in front.
e.g.The car accelerated suddenly, which made me feel nervous.
近义补充：speed up; step on the gas
e.g. The traffic light turned green, so I stepped on the gas and drove off.
e.g. You should slow down instead of speeding up when going around a sharp bend.
补充：go around/take a sharp bend 急拐弯
