Kuehne+Nagel Executive Vice President Sea Logistics Michael Aldwell Gives Exclusive Interview to China Shipping Gazette (CSG) President in Schindellegi, Switzerland
On the morning of October 12, local time in Switzerland, Chen Hongbing, President and Editor-in-Chief of China Shipping Gazette (CSG), visited Kuehne+Nagel’s global headquarters in Schindellegi, Switzerland, for an exclusive interview with Michael Aldwell, Executive Vice President Sea Logistics and member of the Management Board of Kuehne+Nagel.
Global economic and trade conditions continue to evolve, while ocean freight demand and freight rates remain volatile. Major shipping lanes such as the Red Sea and the Strait of Hormuz face uncertainty, leading customers to place greater emphasis on supply chain security, resilience and diversified logistics channels. Meanwhile, the green and low-carbon transition, digitalisation and artificial intelligence are rapidly reshaping service models and the competitive landscape in international logistics.
During the interview, Chen Hongbing exchanged views with Michael Aldwell on the consolidation trends and competitive landscape of the global freight forwarding industry over the next two to three years, Kuehne+Nagel’s differentiated strategy, supply chain resilience and diversified logistics solutions.
They also discussed the decarbonisation of Sea Logistics, coordinated emission reduction across upstream and downstream partners, and the impact of digitalisation and artificial intelligence on quotation and booking, space forecasting, disruption early warning, route optimisation and carbon accounting. Michael Aldwell shared his observations and perspectives on these topics.
As more Chinese companies accelerate their overseas expansion, Chinese customers are gaining influence in the global logistics market. The opportunities created by the global expansion of Chinese companies, and how local Chinese freight forwarders can understand local cultures and business practices as they expand their global operations, were also important topics of the interview.
Before the interview, Chen Hongbing introduced Michael Aldwell to China Shipping Gazette’s professional communications and resource services in shipping, ports, logistics and international supply chains. He also briefed him on preparations for the 5th International Supply Chain Logistics Exposition (ISL Expo 2027), to be held in Shanghai from April 21 to 23, 2027.
The interview further strengthened communication and mutual understanding between China Shipping Gazette (CSG) and Kuehne+Nagel Group Sea Logistics business unit. A full report of the interview will be published later across China Shipping Gazette’s media platforms. Stay tuned.
